The Apartment Complex

The car rushes away, presenting to you your path forwards. Warm streetlamps line up against a large apartment complex, which is all brown brickwork and single-glazed windows. You make your way along, marvelling at the jet black, metal fire escape – it’s just like the ones you’ve seen in those movies about New York.

It’s almost like someone took a small section of some busy, bustling city and placed it delicately into this sleepy town. It doesn’t fit, and yet for some reason it feels like it always belonged.

The clouds above are soft, slowly drifting around an otherwise clear night sky. There’s some grand cinematic feel to all of this… “Am I the main character?” you wonder to yourself. But it doesn’t matter. Everyone is the main character somewhere.

You step closer to the building, compelled to touch it. It feels cool; you run your hand along it, feeling the rumble of brickwork over your fingertips. As you reach the corner you let your hand drift off, almost disappointed that the ride has finished… somehow the building feels the same, and the grey double doors at its front slide open.

A warm, amber glow meets you. Is the building mimicking the clouds? The skies? There’s an antique elevator inside, with a dial above that swings to show you it’s floors. This elevator could take you to the very sky itself.

Do you wanna ride the elevator? Or do you head left, along the street and towards to the old cinema? Stories lie ahead.

Enter the building and call the elevator

Walk left, towards the cinema
